Bear Guerra is amongst the winners of American Photography's Latin American Fotografía awards this year with three photos -- two documenting the protests against Rafael Correa in Ecuador, and a portrait of Olga Mori from our story about the Shipibo community in the Cantagallo shanty town, in Lima, Peru, published in America's Quarterly. The images can be seen in a slideshow at AI-AP.com.

Bear was interviewed about his favorite little subject for this blog post by American Photography:
"Though on the one hand I’m simply setting out to document Camila's life as part of our family history, I also see this project as a way for me to show my love for her through my work, as a way for me to remain attentive to the beautiful moments of childhood and everyday life, in general, and to learn to see better as a photographer. I basically always have my camera nearby and just grab it when something grabs my attention.”
Bear is one of the winners of the Latin American Fotografia 3 by American Photography (AI-AP) competition, with two images from his ongoing personal project documenting our daughter, Camila.
