“For an upcoming edition of The California Sunday Magazine, we're collecting interesting written correspondence between friends, family, or partners who are somehow separated from one another. The correspondence can take on any form: handwritten letters, emails, texts, voice notes, postcards.
We’re open to all kinds of scenarios, but we’re especially interested in correspondences that respond to something topical: letters between family members affected by recent immigration policies, for example, or a group text among neighbors separated by the wildfires, or an email exchange between two politically divided relatives.
Do you have any correspondences that you’re willing to share with us? Send a brief description to firstname.lastname@example.org, and I’ll get back to you promptly.”
