“Alaska Public Media is recruiting an experienced journalist for Alaska’s Energy Desk, our Alaska Regional Journalism Collaboration (RJC), funded by a major grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The partner organizations have dedicated a team of reporters, editors and producers to provide indepth coverage of energy and environment issues in Alaska for statewide and national audiences. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high impact journalism at a dynamic time in Alaska. The Alaska’s Energy Desk reporter will work for Alaska Public Media, the source of NPR radio and PBS television for Southcentral Alaska and stewards the statewide news network of public media stations. Coverage areas will include in part: the oil and gas industry in Alaska, renewable energy and climate change along with other issues of statewide importance.

At least five (5) years’ experience working in a daily broadcast, print or web news environment. ⮚ Ability to work collegially and effectively with multiple stakeholders and audiences. ⮚ Understand the basics of reaching digital audiences, writing for the web, and using social media, both as a way to report and to disseminate stories. ⮚ Ability to work collegially and effectively in a team-based organization. ⮚ Ability to travel throughout the state and nearby regions, including remote areas, by car, boat or plane.”
