“Save the date! In conjunction with the launch of Issue 2 of #ABOGmag, join us for our first biannual ✨Day of Learning on Art & Social Engagement,⚡co-presented by FABnyc. Tickets will be available February 26; stay tuned.
This day-long learning exchange will examine the community-embedded field of socially engaged art through the lens of #ABOGmag Issue 2, which focuses on the perspectives and roles of the wide range of people—not just the artist(s)—involved in the making of these projects. These partners might include participants, community members, city agencies, business owners, community-based organizations, and/or other nonprofit organizations, who together form the ecosystem of a project. The Day of Learning aims to be inclusive and instructive to artists, art professionals, community leaders, and anyone interested in how artists can work in everyday life. It will include a keynote by magazine contributor #RobertSember and site visits to nearby arts and culture organizations to hear about their project ecosystems, including: The Loisaida, Inc. CenterUniversity Settlement Society of New YorkAbrons Arts CenterFABnyc & Downtown ArtMagnum Foundation, and a tour of Seward Park Urban Renewal Area (SPURA) with #GabrielleBendinerViani of the Layered SPURA Project.
