“Instituto Prensa y Sociedad and Transparency International, with the support of the Organization of American States (OAS) and Open Society, organize the Latin American Investigative Journalism Award "Javier Valdez."
The award's purpose is to encourage greater transparency in government, business and media as well as to promote investigative reporting on matters of public interest.
Investigative stories published or broadcast between Sept. 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019 in Spanish, Portuguese or English are eligible. Print, online, television and radio reports may compete, and reporters can submit work done independently or in teams.
The first place winner will receive US$10,000, and the second and third places, US$5,000. Authors of the best investigative reports will also be invited to the Latin American Investigative Journalism Conference (COLPIN 2019) in November in Mexico City.”
