“CIR is looking to hire a part-time production assistant to work with the video team on its in-house projects at our office in Emeryville, CA. The production assistant will primarily help with research and data entry for video projects. There may also be occasional opportunities to assist on local production shoots, transcribing interviews, fixing gear, and jump on other production needs that arise.

You should have 1-3 years of experience in video production. This could include being an intern at other organizations, a PA on shoots, or a researcher on documentaries. This job is meant to help someone in the beginning of their career, so we want someone who wants to grow and learn. In the past, these positions have been filled by undergraduate and graduate students who are studying documentary or broadcast journalism.

This describes everything we are looking for. Our newsroom is successful because of the sum of its parts – we recognize that no one person will be equally strong in every area and that some candidates will bring other strengths or experiences that we haven’t described here. If you are passionate about our work and have a vision to share with us, please apply. We will carefully consider every serious applicant.

This position is part-time, 12 hours a week, at $16.30 an hour. This is a 14-week internship with the possibility to extend. We can only consider local (Bay Area) candidates.”
