ASPIRING JOURNALISTS AND EDITORS INTERESTED IN SOUTH AMERICA (internship, September 7) by Bear Guerra

“Intern is responsible for collaboratively researching, writing and editing updates and reports issued by AIN; maintaining the AIN website and social media pages; and assisting with periodic grant requests and reports. Applicants must be committed to moving to Cochabamba, Bolivia for a minimum of 6 months or one semester.
START DATE: Fall 2019
APPLICATION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 7, 2019 SUPERVISOR: AIN Director, Kathryn Ledebur
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist Director to research, write, and edit political analysis and updates
• Stay up to date on Bolivian news by skimming local newspapers nearly every day and sending
relevant content to Kathryn or posting on social media
• Dynamically maintain and update the AIN website and social media pages
• Assist Director in implementing strategies to cultivate new and current donors
• Assist in writing grant proposals and narrative reports to donors if necessary
• Other tasks as assigned by the Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Fluent English speaker or native speaker proficiency
2. Near-fluency in Spanish, especially skills in reading and writing
3. Commitment to human rights and socioeconomic justice
4. Interest in recent political events in Bolivia and drug policy issues
5. Interest and ability to live in Bolivia and commit to working at AIN for a minimum of 6 months
6. Excellent writing and editorial skills required as well as the ability to write collaboratively
7. Strong computer skills required, previous experience with website management, web hosting, and
mailing systems is highly desired although not required
8. Flexibility and initiative; ability to work in a fast-paced office environment; analytical and problem-
solving skills
RESTRICTIONS:
• Agreement to not publish articles or other information independently or through other organizations or publications during the contract period
• Commitment to work exclusively at the organization during the contract period
